ISO-50002 defines: “An energy audit or assessment comprises a detailed review of the energy performance of an organization, of a process or both. It is typically based on appropriate measurement and observation of energy uses and consumption. Audit outputs typically include information on current consumption and performance and they can be accompanied by a series of ranked recommendations for  improvement in terms of energy performance. Energy audits are planned and conducted as part of the identification and prioritization of opportunities to improve energy performance.”

Energy audits are of mainly three kinds:

• Walk through audit.
• Utility cost analysis.
• Standard energy audit
• Detailed/Comprehensive energy audit.

PAT Advisory Services

Ministry of Power (MoP) and Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) are commended with the task of preparing the implementation for the National Mission on Enhanced Energy Efficiency (NMEEE) under National Action Plan on Climate Change (NAPCC). Under NMEEE , PAT was launched in year 2012 for assigning energy reduction targets to energy intensive industries and distributing Energy Saving Certificates (ESCerts) by Ministry Of Power on achievement of the target within 3 years. At the end of three-year energy saving achieved by industries are verified by a team of Accredited Energy Auditor appointed by the Bureau Of Energy Efficiency. These Certificate can be traded by Designated Consumers (DC). There are provision of Penalties for those DCs who are unable to meet the desired target after implementation of measures and purchase of ESCerts.

Energy Audit For MSME:

SEVA provides Energy Audit Services to MSME sector, allowing them to reduce energy consumption for their units and also to provide a certain benefits. There are many energy incentive areas in Small Scale Sector, such foundry, forging, steel re-rolling mill, glass & ceramic, bakeries etc. The source of energy for them are coke/coal, petroleum products and electricity. The specific consumption of energy in Small Scale Sector is high. As such there is lot of scope of energy conservation in Small Scale Sector. Central & State Government schemes offer benefits and aid in terms of energy audit fee to MSMEs on attaining tangible reductions.
